Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said before the talks on the Ukraine crisis in Minsk on 26 August that halting supplies of weapons to the separatists, allowing the OSCE monitors into the conflict zone and releasing prisoners of war are the steps that will open the way to peace in eastern Ukraine.
Poroshenko also stressed that establishment of effective border control in eastern Ukraine is the only effective measure for ending the bloodshed and creating conditions for stabilization in the region.
